a perfect day in Naples, New York

The Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York, is one of the best places to spend a summer Saturday.  There are hundreds of wineries and breweries in the area and I'd love to explore each and every one of them.  One of the most charming places to spend the weekend, is Naples, NY.  Spend a night in one of the quintessential bed and breakfasts and then enjoy your day wine tasting!

One of our most treasured spots is Inspire Moore.  The owners are friendly and helpful and we talked wine and life for hours while enjoying the robust tasting menu.  The winery produces Gruner Veltliner, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Blaufrankisch, and my all time favorite, Riesling.  Many of these variety are Finger Lakes favorites, due to the cool New York climate.  The wine maker spent time in Austria and the wines tend to learn towards cool climate, but his childhood in California help him to focus on full bodied red as well.  The atmosphere is relaxing and the scenery is picturesque.  To extend your weekend, and visit other wineries in the area, check out The Canandaigua Wine Trail.

Matt and I spent the night at  The Monier Manor and really enjoyed our time there.  The room was spacious and clean and our host, Donna, was the hostess with the mostest.  We loved the breakfast options (food variety and time slots) and the overall charm of the B&B.  Since Matt tends to lean more towards modern hotels, we haven't stayed at many bed and breakfasts, but I can honestly say, we both enjoyed our time at Monier Manor.

You'll have breakfast at the B&B and can grab lunch at Inspire Moore's restaurant, Roots Cafe, but later in the day, stroll downtown Naples to do some shopping and then grab dinner.  Favorite shops include, Joseph's Wayside Market (daily farmer's market), Monica's Pies (grape pies), Flint Creek Soap (all natural products), and Artizanns (a collection of homemade gifts).  When it's time for dinner, chow down at BBQ at Naples Valley BBQ or pizza at Neapolitan Brick Oven Pizza (you are in Naples after all!).

See more of the Finger Lakes region and let me know your favorite Finger Lakes wineries!
