Wyoming cowboy country

Howdy cowboy!  Even before I worked for a major airline, one of my main goals in life, was to visit all fifty states.  I've always had a desire to see all the unique places in the United States.  How lucky are we to live in such a diverse topography with varied cultures and traditions?  While I'd love to spend quality time in all the cities that make up America, I have to settle for a few weekends exploring where I can.  One such trip, was a day trip to Wyoming.  The trip originated from my friend Vivienne's desire to check a state off her list and to see her alma mater play football.  We flew into Denver, rented a car, and drove through some of the most beautiful scenery and the biggest blue skies!

Our first stop was downtown Cheyenne, where we visited the Capitol Building, Depot Plaza, and searched for the famous big boots.  The Wyoming Capitol Building is in the heart of Capitol Square and is open for tours every day of the week.  The building itself is beautiful and has been restored in the past few years to be even more impressive.  Our favorite part, was the bronze statue of Ester Hobart Morris, who was the first female Justice of the Peace in the US.  Total #GirlBoss.  We also loved hunting around Cheyenne for the brightly painted, larger than life, cowboy boots.  As avid fans of the arts, this was really enjoyable, even in the days before Instagram!  The boots are painted to show local history and are all uniquely designed by Wyoming artists.  If you aren't in town for a football game, I suggest you plan the rest of your day with activities such as, the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens, the Merci Trains, the Historic Governor's Mansions, and the Dry Creek Greenway.  Visit Cheyenne has a really informative website, so play around to create an itinerary that fits your interests.  There really is something for everyone!

The main attraction, and the reason for our trip, was the big game between the Wyoming Cowboys and the Virginia Cavaliers.  Next stop, Laramie, WY, home of the University of Wyoming!  While a few of our traveling companions were educated at UVA, it was hard not to root for the home team!  The weather was perfect and the big blue sky was exactly what you'd expect from the wide open spaces of Wyoming!  Laramie was a cute little college town with western flair

There are a few other WY towns I'd like to explore, Jackson Hole being at the top of the list,  but I am thankful I was able to visit Cheyenne and Laramie; paramount cities to check Wyoming off my list.
