the best Manhattan skyline: Gantry Plaza State Park

One of the best places to see the Manhattan skyline, is from our neighborhood, Long Island City, Queens.  Gantry Plaza State Park is probably one of my favorite parks in the entire city.  The views of the East River are calming, you get a perfect view of the Chrysler Building, the Empire State Building, and One World Trade Center.  Roosevelt Island and the Queensboro Bridge are also beautifully in your line of vision.  The area has plenty of green spaces for picnics and play.  There are numerous benches, lounge chairs, and picnic tables for casual hang outs with friends and family.  Kids can enjoy the playground and parents can enjoy the nearby to-go cocktail bars and food trucks.  Walk a bit east and Gantry Plaza turns into Hunter's Point South Park.  I love the meandering paths leading down from the bike path to the water.  The tall grass and stone reminds me of my favorite parts of Chicago's Lincoln Park, the Nature Boardwalk!  Everywhere you look, the beauty of NYC is evident.
