Cheers friends! One of the best things about living in Long Island City, Queens, is the LIC Brewery Trail. We are conveniently located next to LIC Beer Project and often venture to the other nearby breweries. We know our favorites and can often sit and enjoy the scene for hours, but my favorite part of the experience is the tastings. There is just something about tiny beers! In the heart of the summer, I'm really in my element because sours are my absolute favorite. All the LIC breweries have fantastic sour selections and we make a point to venture out and try the new varieties when they are announced. Covid-19 had made it impossible to visit normal bars, but we are loving that we can still visit our favorite breweries and drink on the streets or in the parks. The breweries are less crowded and we are loving the new set up. I miss the mini-tasting, which aren't available for take-out, but I guess we're stuck with pint size taste tests!

LIC Beer Project
The closest to our house, we love this brewery for its location. Because it's located on the other side of the highway, versus the other breweries, it tends to be less crowded on the weekend. They also offer free popcorn, which is key when you're drinking heavy IPAs. Located at 39-28 23rd Street, LIC.
Definitely the most festive of the breweries, Rockaway is located across from the LIC Flea and makes it perfect for a Saturday at the market and then down to the water. During quarantine, Rockaway also has a pop-up in the Flea so you can enjoy their beer outdoors and for take-away. Located 46-01 5th Street, LIC.
Iconyc Brewing Company
Iconyc is the newest of the LIC Breweries, and one of our favorites. The brewery itself has a cute patio and a DJ spinning records, but it's absolutely perfect during quarantine, thanks to the proximity to 12th street public plaza and ancient glacier rock. Not sure if drinking will always be possible in the plaza but for now, it's the perfect place to grab a drink and then socially distance in the sun. Located 43-63 11th Street, LIC (but enter through the 12th street plaza).
Big aLICe Brewing
Big Alice is the home to our favorite beer of the moment, Brunch Crusher. Matt and I both love sours and this one is perfect for consuming in the summer sun. There isn't really anywhere to hang out at Big A's during quarantine, but we've been getting 4 packs to-go and drinking them on our own patio. Located 8-08 43rd Road, LIC.
Fifth Hammer
Fifth Hammer was one of our favorites back in the day but it has gotten so popular (aka way too packed) that we hadn't visited in a really long time. Thanks to quarantine, there haven't been any crowds, so we've been visiting at least once a week to grab a couple beers and drink on the streets. They have a few tables set up outside, but the area is fairly empty so there are plenty of pockets on the street to hang out for an hour. We also grab a 4 pack to take home at the end of the night. Located 10-28 46th Ave., LIC.
