Red Sox vs Yankees
Ever since my first trip to a professional baseball field in 1991, I have been a Red Sox fan. We saw the Red Sox play the A's at Fenway Park on my 8th grade class trip and I haven't looked back since. I've been to Fenway numerous times since that fateful day, and have been lucky to see the Red Sox play on the road in Chicago, but it was a bucket list item to also see them play at the famed Yankee Stadium. Tickets were more reasonably priced in the summer of 2021, thanks to the global pandemic so we donned a mask and took our chances. The Red Sox lost, but we didn't catch Covid, so I guess it's a wash on the night :)
Highlights of the night, included seeing the newest member of the Yankees, Anthony Rizzo, play in the game. He was a long time player for the Chicago Cubs and someone I grew to admire during my years in Chicago. Another shining moment of the game was when Matt left for food and returned with a giant bucket of chicken fingers and fries. It was no Chicago-style hotdog at Wrigley, but it made me very happy, just the same. Lastly, I loved meandering through Monument Park on the lower level of the stadium. Red Sox fan or not, so many legendary people have played the game for the New York Yankees and it was wondrous to be reminded of all the greats in NYY history.
Matt is Mets fan and we saw the Cubs vs Mets play at Citi Field a few summers ago. While we're not as close to the stadium in Queens as we used to be, we're now a short train ride from the Meadowlands and have easy access to Matt's choice football team, the NY Jets. We're headed there in the fall to watch the Jets take on the Bills, but we did spend one Fall Sunday there together in 2016 as it was my 1st year wedding anniversary gift to Matt (1st year is paper). We had great seats and the Jets won!
