lakeview east favorites: maison marcel

One of the best neighborhoods in Chicago is Lakeview East, the place I called home for 8+ years.  There is so much to love about Lakeview East, including the proximity to the lake, Lincoln Park, and Diversity & Belmont Harbors.  While I love those details with all of my heart, it's the neighborhood gems that made my time in the city so lovely.  In this Lake View East Favorites series, we'll take a look at some of my favorites.  First up, Maison Marcel.

Maison Marcel

The French bakery and cafe is located on N Broadway, near the intersection of Barry or Briar.  While the ambiance in the cafe is stunning, it's the food that really makes this place stand out from the other French bakeries in the area.  They bake the best croissants in Chicago and the best I've had since my time in France.  I'm also partial to the pain au chocolat and the seasonal tartines.  On the go, I love to grab a Nutella or Lavender latte for a walk around the neighborhood, but the best experience is on a weekday, mid morning, when you can sit at one of the beautifully boho tables to do work or read while enjoying breakfast.  The restaurant also serves lunch & dinner items as well as alcohol, but I've mostly just spent mornings, pretending I'm in the South of France.
