One of the compelling things about the area of New York where my parents live, is their proximity to the NYS trail system. When I am in town to visit, I often spend at least one afternoon exploring the Auburn Trail. I grab my running shoes and camera and spend hours exploring every nook and cranny of this beautiful wooded area. The wild flowers are my favorite but I also love spotting Smurf-style mushrooms, cute little woodland animals, and anything & everything that grows up along the fence posts. There is just something about nature's ability to keep growing, no matter what is in it's way.
A majority of my exploration is solitary, but on a bright day in the Fall, the path is hopping with walkers and bikers and friendly neighbors, ready to wave hello. I love small town USA.
