disney's Yacht Club resort

Twenty twenty-three was another year of back to back to back week-long vacations.  We were in the Palm Springs area for Stagecoach, then flew to Miami for the Formula One Miami Grand Prix, and finally found ourselves in Orlando, for a mega vacation with Matt's family.  We spent 10+ days at the beautiful Disney Yacht Club Resort and it was the perfect place for us to call home base.

The hotel is decked out in New England decor so every detail was right up my alley.  I loved the lavish seaman themed lobby and the bright striped awnings.  All the public areas were decorated in traditional touches and old world charm.  The lighthouse and pirate ship along the lake's edge really amped up the seaside flair.  Spending a day at the hotel pool or on the lake in a kayak could make you easily believe you're visiting Cape Cod instead of inland Florida.

Another bonus of The Yacht Club was the hotel restaurant, Ale and Compass.  This was by far, one of the best meals of our trip (although we pretty much hated all the food in the parks).  The service was phenomenal and pictured here is my very tasty new england style seafood pot pie, complete with housemade parker house roll crust.  Matt's parents ate here at least twice since they enjoyed the food and created a great rapport with the staff.

Rooms with a view

We didn't have a balcony on our room, but Matt's parents had a covered balcony with a view of the gazebo, a hidden pool, and a peak at the lake.  A++ accommodations.

One of the best parts of the hotel's location was that it was just a 10-15 minute walk along the lake to Epcot Center.  We loved heading to Epcot at night for the fireworks or to walk around the world in search of dinner.  Epcot is my favorite of the Disney Parks and I loved being so close.  Also, across the lake from the hotel is Disney Boardwalk which has a variety of restaurants and quick service food stalls.  From the pier, we could also hop a boat to Hollywood Studios which was a much more scenic ride than the Minnie Mouse bus from the hotel to the Magic Kingdom.
