day 2 in Detroit: Belle Isle

No trip to Detroit is complete without an outing to Belle Isle.  The home to the Detroit Aquarium, Nature Center and Zoo, and Great Lakes Museum, the isle in the middle of the Detroit River is packed with things to do.  We spent time at the James Scott Memorial Fountain, taking in the view of the downtown skyline across the river, and walking the pedestrian bridges over Tacoma Lake.  Sadly the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory was closed for construction when we were visiting, but I loved walking around the gardens and photographing the seasonal foliage.   Belle Isle was a real highlight of the trip and a place I'd love to return in the warmer months (and when the Conservatory is open)!

See the rest of our day in Detroit day 2 and more of our long weekend to the city in Day 1 and Day 3.
