When you think of pizza towns in America, locations like NYC, Chicago, Detroit, and New Haven, probably come to mind. And while yes, those are amazing pizza cities, Phoenix, AZ also must be on that list. Phoenix is home to the NYC classic, Grimaldi's, as well as an absolute favorite of ours, Oregano's. La Grand Orange pizzas are some of my all time favorite food in the entire world. And while all of these establishments are fantastic in their own unique way, the best place in all of Phoenix for pizza is Pizzeria Bianco. Now this isn't rocket science, even Oprah named Pizzeria Bianco the best pizza in the US, but for once the hype is real and this place is THE BEST. We always arrive about a half hour before it opens to get in line and then enjoy a drink outside at Bar Bianco while we wait for our table. The topping varieties are all perfection (they make 6 different pizzas), but you cannot go wrong with a classic margherita. It has been years since we've been to this Phoenix institution (and since we've last visited, Chris Bianco won the James Beard award for outstanding restaurateur in 2022 to go along with his Best Chef Southwest in 2003) but seeing these photos takes me back to the absolute perfect bite of pizza at Pizzeria Bianco.
