isabella stewart gardner museum

If there are three things I love, it's New England in the Summer, Art Museums, and Women of the Gilded Age.  No where else in the world combines these loves better than the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston.

Isabella's travels around Europe and Asia sparked a deep love and appreciation for art.  This love of art and culture, next took her to Harvard to study art history and then to Boston's Back Bay to create an art museum to showcase all her treasures.  The museum is set up to resemble walking through a mansion, with ornate doors and mouldings, exquisit wallpaper, rooms full of historic furniture, priceless famous art works, and the most incredible indoor courtyard garden.  My favorite part of the museum are the windows on each level that overlook the courtyard.  It's a wonderful contrast between the dark moody art and the bright sun and lush foliage.  Flowers, art, architecture - all a few blocks from Fenway Park - definitely one of my favorite museums to visit.  And I haven't even mentioned the infamous art heist of 1990 that makes the museum even more intriguing!  Where are those paintings!
