a view of the sea in Aruba

One of the greatest joys of working for an airline, is the 24 hour trip to the Caribbean.  Before there were even digital cameras (let alone smart phones with cameras), I went on numerous 24 hour trips to the Caribbean with my friends and coworkers (hoping to someday have the negatives turned to digital).  We would hop a flight to PHL or CLT on a Saturday morning, connect to whichever Caribbean Island had the most open seats or the best all inclusive food and drink package, have one splendid afternoon/evening on the island, and then fly home at 2pm the next day.  Quick, cheap, and always made you feel good about your career choices.  While this was a regular occurance in the winter during my years at US Airways, I only participated in this type of adventure a couple of times during my stint at United.  One such trip was a weekend in Aruba with 3 of my friends.  We had drinks on the balcony overlooking the sea, ate dinner beachside with our feet in the sand, and had the best evening, sitting on the beach, sipping cocktails and watching the sun set over the horizon.  We didn't see the town, we didn't venture away from the resort.  Just relaxation with friends for 24 hours!
