Off the coast of mainland Puerto Rico, sits the most beautiful island with the coolest hotel. In the mid-2000-2010s W Hotels were THE hotel to stay for a cool girl vibe. And the W Hotel Resort and Spas were on another level. From their Livingroom lobby to the changing floor mats, to the minimal signage and the colorful resort decor, everything about the W Hotel Resort in Vieques was perfection. A high school friend and I, plus two of her other friends, spent a week enjoying the beach, the pool, the seaside restaurants, and all that the resort had to offer. The highlight of the stay was sleeping with the doors wide open each night so we could hear the waves. The hammocks around the property were a close second. Sadly Vieques was hit pretty hard by a hurricane years ago and the resort was never reopened. I'm all the more grateful for my stay and these beautiful memories that cannot be recreated in the same way.
We hopped a ferry from SJU to Vieques and then it was an easy ride to the hotel.
The grounds are beautiful and there is plenty to explore when you need to stretch your legs after a day of lounging poolside.
The decor in the rooms and the lobby are stunning. They were 100% my style at that period of my life.
