Hi! Welcome to the adventures of The Traveling Gers.

As we travel around the US and countries abroad, we want to inspire wanderlust and give you a peek into our unconventional married life. As Susan Sontag says, "I haven't been everywhere, but it's on my list".

Meet the wife: Erin lives in Chicago during the week and travels to NYC on the weekends. She went to school for travel & tourism and has worked in the airline industry for almost 20 years. Her favorite destinations in the US are the beaches of New England, the Pacific Northwest, Sea Island, GA and Los Angeles. She's also a huge fan of St. Maarten, Southern Italy & Greece, the countries of Central America, anything French, and London in the Spring. She's visited almost all 50 states and is slowly checking off countries across the Pacific.

Meet the husband: Matt calls NYC home, but spends a lot of time on the road, racking up those frequent flier miles and hotel points. Matt has lived in all 4 corners of the US and, in addition to his normal work trips/leisure vacations, took a couple months off to travel around-the-world. His favorite reoccurring work trips are to Ft. Lauderdale, Austin, Seattle, London, and Toronto. His sister lived in Kobe for a few years and Matt's now a huge fan of the cleanliness and orderly ways of the Japanese.
