life at the beach: Nice, France

Lazy Days in the French Riviera

Is there anything better than wasting your days away on the rocky beaches of the French Riviera?  After hot, hot days walking around Menton and Monte Carlo, we were ready to just relax in the Cote d'Azure.  Pick a beach club that suits your needs and spread out on a colorful lounger under a bright umbrella.  From the people watching to the plane spotting, we were entertained as we lounged along the Mediterranean Sea at Ruhl Plage.

We were able to pull ourselves away from the magazines and blue & white striped umbrellas just long enough to enjoy a delicious lunch overlooking the water.  Favorites included the restaurant atop of Le Meridian, Peska by La Terrasse.  Here the menu is focused on the sea and Chef Eric Brujan works with local producers to serve the freshest food possible.

Matt and I were also big fans of the beachside restaurant at Ruhl Plage.  Here we could sip rose and eat delicious food, while covered in sand and nothing else but our swim suits & flip flops. The blue & white quintessential French theme was carried from the beach to the restaurant and I couldn't stop taking photos of the aesthetic.  When I dreamed of lunch on the French Riviera, this is what I pictured.  Ruhl Plage did not disappoint.

There is so much to see and do along the Cote d'Azure, but a real highlight of the trip were the days we spent enjoying the scenery.  See more of Le Meridian and our time in Nice as well as other trips to the Mediterranean in Greece and Italy.
